Description:
The municipality of Quebradillas on Puerto Rico’s northwestern shore is known as “La Guarida del Pirata” or The Pirate’s Hideout, and the beach at Puerto Hermina provides some clues as to why.
A spectacular – yet rough – beach, Puerto Hermina is also home to the remains of an old structure believed to have served as hiding place for pirates and their contraband. It is said that Roberto Cofresí, the island’s best known pirate, used Puerto Hermina as his hideout.
And although it might be hard to find any proof to support those claims during a visit to the beach, you’ll find yourself as captivated by the intoxicating mix of crystalline waters, lush vegetation and rocky formations that make this a spot worth marking on any map.
