Description: If one were to beach-hop west starting from the San Juan Metro area, along Puerto Rico’s northern coast, one would have to make the Balneario Cerro Gordo in Vega Alta a requisite stop. Like in other “balnearios” administered by Puerto Rico’s National Parks Company, the facilities within this beach are extensive, including ample parking, showers, picnic tables, camping grounds, and lifeguards on duty. A popular spot among both swimmers and divers, Cerro Gordo’s varied vistas range from the sight of waves crashing against beautiful rock formations, to the more serene – where calm waters meet the horizon and palm trees dance in the wind.
